Lamotrigine

Anyone have experience with this drug. And yes on top of being OCD and having Asperger's I am Bi-polar. My psychiatrist prescribed this for me yesterday on a gradual dosage ramp up schedule. Just popped out of a prolonged bout with depression. The mood changes occur abruptly and without any warning signs. So now I will to 2-4hrs. of sleep as opposed to 10-12hrs, 'sigh'. Thank-you for any insights.

Absolutely love it. My stomach had major butterflies ALL the time. My psychiatrist doubled my prescription, very aggressive psychiatrist. LITERALLY overnight no more butterflies. By all means try it.

Thanks Bulldog. I understand that it can take a month or more to feel the full effects. Looking forward to experiencing that.

Maybe since you’re ramping up. I’m a big man with a high tolerance to side effects, so my psychiatrist has always been aggressive with me. I pray so hard both of us can navigate this journey. God bless.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and I definitely feel like it helps with my OCD. Best wishes to you!

Does it help you with the thoughts? Or the depression?

For me, it’s helped with both.

Compulsions or obsessive thoughts?

It's been less than a week on the initial 25mg does, so if there are improvements they are very subtle at this point. Complicating things is I have just emerged from a prolonged period of depression.

Been a while, my apologies. The lamotrigine caused increasingly intensive rash/itchiness and had to stop. Even before I began taking the medication the darkness/depressions abruptly lifted. That was the beginning of February and my energy level is higher than it has been in years, mood is up, stable and still holding. There is no rational explanation for this. My psychiatrist suggested that it might have been a bi-polar episode, but it does not follow any known pattern. Even in the midst of the pandemic and ridiculous dribble coming out of the WH I am managing better than I would have thought possible. I have always leaned on my faith and trusted in the Grace of God, now more than ever. My prayers go out to everyone. Hope never fades and there will be better days ahead. LOVE to all.
