Anti depressant or anti psychotic for ocd

I have severe ocd. I have taken sertraline for 6 months and it has done nothing. Dr wants to try an anti psychotic like Abilify. Any thoughts or opinions as to how this may help? Thx

Did your dr say why they’d want you to take the anti psychotic? Have you tried any other anti depressants? I’d say don’t skip over any other anti depressants that could possibly help before jumping to an anti psychotic. I hope you can find something that works well for you

My son takes an anti-psychotic AND fluvoxamine (Luvox) for his OCD. OCD thinking is actually quite psychotic in many cases. Luvox needs to be taken at the highest possible dosage for it to help with OCD. Most doctors won't prescribe high enough doses because they are afraid of law suits. My son requires 700 mg per day.
