Hi guys. I've had the worst news possible. I've had health OCD for more then 15 years and with meds, ERP and a lot of effort I was starting to get by. But yesterday I went to the optalmologist for a regular checking, and all of a sudden she told me I have Glaucoma??. I'm 44. What the fuck!? No job, no family(all dead from cancer) and now the possibility of becoming......I don't even want to think about it. I am going to ask for a 2° opinion but this does not look good. I feel I have not incentives or motivations in life to keep going any more. And I will probably have to quit my meds(ISRS) just in case they have something to do with the Glaucoma. I feel very depress. I apologise for being so negative this time but I do not feel like talking to anyone about it yet. The "what if" is killing me a and this is gonna be a hard one to get over...thank you for reading this and being there.
This is too hard...: Hi guys. I've had the... - My OCD Community
This is too hard...
I feel for you - for as long as I can remember I have had a fear of getting mono, and about a year ago I did. It can feel hopeless, but you have to trust that OCD is really good at convincing you that you are doomed, that all hope is lost ... but, it's OCD. Are you seeing someone for ERP therapy?
Having health OCD and hypochondriasis myself I understand how scary and awful this is. But Glaucoma can be treated. Read more about it here:
I'm so sorry to hear this. Definitely get a second opinion and make sure. Remember we with OCD tend to jump to the worst case scenarios of things, too. How are things going since you wrote this?
Hello,
I'm really sorry to hear you received such saddening news. Are you currently in treatment for your OCD? This will likely improve your overall situation and help your symptoms from impacting any health-related news you might receive.

Thank you Alex. I had checked that page already but unfortunately there are not professionals specialized in OCD/CBT in my area. I am educating myself with good books about ERP and ACT and keep searching on the Internet. Would you know by chance(or could you find out with your experts) is fluvoxamina and lorazepan have any contraindications with Glaucoma and/or high eye pressure? My ophthalmologist told me that only affects acute norrow angle glaucoma and if I had glaucoma( tbc) mine is open angle. I have a lot of anxiety and I am not having meds until I speak to my psicotherapist, but this is killing me. Thank you man.
