My husband has been diagnosed with ET, and I am wondering if anyone knows if this can be claim on your Critical illness insurance, I do not want to contact our insurance in case its not covered and then they void our insurance for whatever reason. In there T&C's it only states 'Cancer – excluding less advanced cases'. I have contacted ABI and they said I would need to contact our insurance to check this.
I have come across a few posts on here to say they have been successful however they seem to be over 6 years ago.
Thank you

hello Chez311, as you are aware from the various posts, many people have been successful in claiming on their critical illness policies. It would be best to speak to the insurance company about this and to discuss submitting a claim, and probably best to now declare that your husband has been diagnosed with ET. All MPNs were reclassified in 2008 by the World Health Organization (WHO) as blood cancers, this is why people have been able to make claims on insurance policies. When you speak to the insurance company make sure that you say that your husband has ET and that it is a blood cancer, as it may be listed under essential thrombocythaemia, or myeloproliferative neoplasms, or blood cancer. The insurance company will require a report/letter of confirmation from your husband's haematologist, but they should contact the haematologist for this, rather than you.
good morning yes you definitely can claim my claim has just been accepted through my works group critical illness cover. You will have to contact your insurance and they will send firm to your specialist to complete . My claim has taken 4 weeks from start to completion
just an update.. my husband claim has been accepted we are with Zurich and they have been great no questions asked only thing that took the time was getting documentation from consultant's, that was painful, however still only took 3 months from submitting the claim to receiving payment 😀
