life insurance whilst waiting for official diagnosis

hi all, I have recently tested positive to the jak2 mutation… my consultant thinks it may be ET or myelofibrosis . I am having a bone marrow biopsy done to determine which one it is.

My question is… is it too late for me to get life insurance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently renewed life insurance at my small company. I have PV Dx. But it was possible only by some sort of rollover from my pre-Dx policy.

In a related note, maybe relevant to you, we also are trying to get cash on my life based on the probability I'll die early. (I have no idea the details on this) We were expecting a nice cash payout but since PV treatments have recently become so effective they no longer are offering us this money ie I should survive normally. Same should be for ET.

But it could be if they find MF these odds are different depending on the details of the MF Dx. Likely they will want to know your BMB results before any offer. Did you get a VAF (% level of the mutation)

Now that I have Sjogren's (Vaccine and IFN induced) we're trying again to say I'll expire early.

I have primary mf jak 2 positive I was 24 at diagnosis and had 2 very small babies one a matter of weeks so on my diagnosis I to wanted make sure my family would be ok especially considering at the time I was given a time frame of 2-3 years I tried everything but no insurance policy would touch me because of my diagnosis one that did the policy was alot of money each month and I I had to die within a certain time frame and it was ridiculous i would ring round and see if it’s any different for you as alot has changed since those days with treatments Iam now 14 years in so I guess no body ever really knows what the future holds I wish you luck 🍀

I had a small burial policy before I was diagnosed with ET in 2008 at age 52. As soon as I got my diagnosis, I tried to find a better policy but no one would accept me. I was selling life insurance at the time and over the years I tried various companies and I was not successful.

It was crazy but I got a significant policy after my daughter was born. And it was about a year before my diagnosis and at the time, I was optimal health😆. I still have the policy and will be able to convert it to term in a few years. Someone was looking out for me when we did this, but hopefully we won’t need it. Unfortunately, like all insurance they only want the people who don’t need it and try to run off who does by charging them so much. You can try and see if you can work something out. You may want to see what the diagnosis is and treatment and that may help. Like EP guy says, treatment is getting better and we are all living a normal lifespan. Good luck!

I was able to get a policy after ET Jak2+ diagnosis but it took jumping through hoops; letters from my MPN specialist; data on life expectancy with controlled ET and a medical panel review which went all the way to the government committee which determines the health basket benefits - took months..also other than the ET diagnosis was completely healthy on all readings
