I’ve had thrombocythaemia for many years and it’s been well controlled initially by Hydroxycarbamide and in more recent years by Hydroxycarbamide and Anagrelide together. At the beginning of September I developed covid and tested positive over a period of twenty days. Early in October during a face to face haematology appointment I learned that there’d been a 200 drop in my platelets since mid July. This was totally unexpected as my results are generally pretty stable. The haematologist told me that this raid drop could have been caused by covid.
I’d be very interested to know if anyone has had a similar experience.

I :have had covid recently and it wasn't good....even though I had the antivirals.I have Bronchiectasis and this time after covid went to hospital with very bad hl hymopsis,(coughing blood).I was put on transexamic acid pills to stem the bleeding .My platelets dropped to a level within the range 324.Really low for me....usually 500-700. So not sure if covid or the pills.I have MF/, It's been a rough time.
Sorry you’ve had such a difficult time Lynn. I hope you feel better soon. My platelets were 166 a week or so ago. I’m a bit worried that they may go down even further. Like you, I don’t know the cause but from what I’ve read covid seems fairly likely.
