The short answer is that yes, inflammation can contribute to reactive thrombocytosis. You can find this information when looking for causes of reactive thrombocytosis. statpearls.com/ArticleLibra... The issue is more signifcant in the context of having a MPN where you already exprerience thrombocytosis.

Inflammation can do even more than increase platelet levels. At the core, MPNs are inflammatory disorders. Here are a few articles on the topic of Inflammation in MPNs. There is more in the literature.

Yes it definitely does I had a sports injury & platelets went up. I had Covid platelets rose. I just had a finger operation & finger cut & stitched & platelets rose & healing took forever compared to my no ET healing years ago 👍

maybe one to ask your Haem, I wonder if it’s a chicken and egg, ie is the MPN causing the rise in platelets and hence the inflammation or it something else causing the inflammation which may raise the platelets. I don’t know the answer but your Haem might.

Yes is the simple answer. It's happened to me a few times. Increasing the HU has helped but as inflammation/infection eases, the platelets will also decrease. At some point your doctor may reduce the HU dosage based on my own experience. Best wishes

yes, I had a very painful inverted bulging disc in my back about two years ago. My platelets, went over 1000 for the first time, and my hemoglobin dropped in to the nines. When the bulging disc resolved itself , my numbers went back to the way they were.
