Enlarged Left Atrial

Hi I am having an optional plastic surgery. My Heam said it was fine. My preop EKG stated that while my EKC is consistant with the last time I had one, I also "possibly" have an enlarged left atrial. Huh. I have a 1st degee block that has not progressed but this is new. Has anyone ever heard of that? I have a message into my doctor. Thanks all!

There are different reasons why someone may experience enlargement of the left atrium. The KISS version is that something is going on the is causing that part of your heart to enlarge due to excess pressure on the heart. Note that AV block is one of the potential reasons.

Here are a few links on the topic. there is other good information available.

This is something to follow up on with your cardiologist for a clear answer. Your MPN Specialist needs to be aware of the issue as well.

Please do let us know what you learn and how you get on. Good luck with the procedure.
