Hi, all. I’m post Et Mf and have been taking hydroxyurea for years. Only in the past several months, I have been experiencing frequent nausea. The last time they checked my spleen in March, it was only mildly enlarged at 13.2. But recently, I seem to have mild pain on my left side when I take a deep breath or after eating. I tried to Google it but I couldn’t find where it said nausea is caused by a large spleen.

Does an enlarged spleen cause nausea
I don't know but, as an enlarged spleen can make it hard to eat enough, perhaps it can also cause nausea. Your consultant can probably prescribe some anti sickness tablets. Good luck!
Yes, thank you. I sent her a message this morning. How are you doing?
Hi there. My spleen was enlarged to 22cm and although I had discomfort and mild pain I didn’t have any nausea issues. As we all present with different symptoms I suppose it could be the spleen enlargement, but whatever it is, as Jennie suggested, it’s worth getting it checked out. All the best, Garry
Do get it checked out. My pain, NOT accompanied by nausea, turned out to be blood clots in my lungs diagnosed by scan. Hope all goes well. Sallie
Hi there! I don't notice any nausea with my spleen issues but I have developed gall bladder issues since taking HU. I am managing with diet (high fibre, low animal fat). You should have a doctor check to see if anything has changed for you.
