enlarged spleen/blood clot

hi all. Just in hospital with enlarged spleen and blood clots. Has this happened to anyone? What is cause? I’m not on hydroxycarbamide

what do you have sweet I have mylefibrosis I gave clotted multiple times and my spleen is massive unfortunately it’s a well known symptom but best get checked out x

I have ET and started hydroxy. Still in hospital had a bone marrow biopsy. Recent blood tests have showed platelets have reduced

Sorry to hear about your hospitalization. Your spleen filters out, removes "old" blood, when you have high blood counts like we do with an MPN, I have PV, your spleen gets an extra workout trying to remove the excess blood. It is a very typical symptom. It can come and go, you'll know because when you eat you get full feeling very quickly. And other times you can get like a starved horse. One of those things as MPN'ers we have to learn to deal with. Hang in there, you'll get through this. Blood clots are a side effect as well. Once your blood levels are under control the risk of clotting will go down but not away.

It is a manageable risk. Stay connected and I pray for your health and safety.
