Did you all have this blood test. I have looked at my blood tests for 2 weeks time and it is included prior to my appointment so I think my consultant is being thorough maybe. What reason would she do this test for?

Could be due to persistent Leukocytosis as well. Remember I'm not diagnosed with anything as yet. Just having tests. And sorry for all the questions.

LDH is a general indicator of tissue damage and is considered an inflammatory marker. Many docs include it in looking at an MPN profile. It is a non-specitfic marker that could mean any of a number of things. Some conditions that may cause reactive thrombocytosis may also cause an increase in LDH. Some infections can also increase LDH.

It is not surprising that the doc would be checking this, particularly since you are not diagnosed yet. You should definitely ask the doc about this.

I also think I have inflammation somewhere. My hip keeps dropping and my right shoulder is painful when trying to put a coat on or reaching behind. That is why I was adamant I had arthritis most likely. And apparently she said my infection level is good. I don't know what she was referring to when she said it. I think maybe the blood film. Definitely not my white counts because they have been consistently higher than normal.

I feel like I was infected by something at the beginning of lockdown and everything has escalated since. As I said my lymphocytes were double my normal count over the years and also my neutrophils were high. Both suggesting infection but apparently they both went down suggesting I again i got over it but platelets still a little high. Im glad she's looking at inflammation. It makes sense and infection. Only just over 3 weeks and hopefully will be gone from site with a good course of antibiotics lol.

I'm so sorry for all these questions on here but I clam up talking to consultant s. I don't want to seem health anxious. And I know they are extremely busy as they told me when I rang about my bloods.

An interesting article I have just read about ldh test and triple negative et. I haven't had my results as yet ( only my jak2 which is nagative they said) but it can be useful in predicting et.

I dont know if I can post links but it says

Is It Possible to Predict Clonal Thrombocytosis in Triple-Negative Patients with Isolated Thrombocytosis Based Only on Clinical or Blood Findings?

I've had several LDH readings since my Dx. It was way high at the start 400+. I think my long covid condition, which was bad at that time, contributed. On HU (or as the covid settled down) it quickly decreased. As Hunter says, it's a broad indicator of something's up. It's now in range at the high end.

Recently I asked Dr for it, he said it's not medically necessary but he ordered it for me.

Not what you're looking for?
