Hi. I am new here and appreciate this forum. I have myelofibrosis and just had cataract surgery. Before the surgery I had didn't always see perfectly because of the myelofibrosis. Does having this cancer affect the cataract surgery? Thank you.

Hi CocoJ. I had cataract operations a couple of years ago and my sight is much better although I still need glasses for reading. I have had pre-fibrotic myelofibrosis for over 7 years. I hope your op. was successful.

Hi Cindy. I just had the surgery a week ago and was told my vision will take awhile to clear up. I appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.

I never heard that myelofibrosis causes eye problems. It’s interesting that you mentioned it because I had cataract surgery in both eyes when I was 44 years old. My vision was completely blurred. I wasn’t yet diagnosed with Et. That happened 8 years later. I wonder now if they could have been related.

Hi I have ET and had both cataracts done last year, at 58. My vision is really good, I have worn glasses since a child and dont need to any more, so very pleased with results.

Hi. I have worn glasses since 6 and had contacts at 16. I am glad I had the surgery and know that it does take time for the surgery to completely clear up my vision. Thank you for letting me know about you and I am glad it worked for you.

It did take a while for my vision to clear, so hopefully you will have good vision once things settle. I have been -6.25 in both eyes for many years and now they are -0.25, so it's a great improvement. I do still get foggy eyes sometimes, but I think it is because of ET.
