Interferon Injections tummy feels bruised.

Hello I have been on the Interferon Injections for over five months, once a week. I have noticed my tummy has become sore when I push down and feels slightly hard and internally bruised. I was on Clexane Injections and they left my tummy bruised with many large knots. I have been taken off Clexane and now on Apixban Eliques Blood thinning tablets. Just wondering if you can inject Interferon in the arm or buttock region. Thankyou

hello Vegas22, sorry that you have a sore tummy, you should ask your haematology nurse specialist about whether or not you can inject somewhere else, she/he will be able to advise you. Best wishes, Maz

Hi Vegas22,

I’m also on interferon. There are other sites you can inject. I read something about absorption of the drug being poorer if injected in an unsuitable place though so definitely check with your haematologist as Maz said.

When I was on interferon I sometimes injected into my thigh, which my consultant said was fine.

I inject into my backside, thought I read somewhere that this was fine? I’ll double check next time I talk to my Hem

I inject only in my thighs for over a year now. No issues.
