Well I have managed to do my first injection st home but had a bit of a problem prepping the injection I couldn’t seem to be able to snap the needle holder in fear of breaking it but a neighbour helped me just hope the new medication works for me.

Well done👍👍Interestingly I used to have an issue with taking the needle holder off for many months. Eventually you will get the knack required. A kind of subtle twist and pull is the best way to describe my knack.

You’ll get used to it I’m sure.

Well done again and let’s hope it does a good job getting your blood in order🤞

Lol the same thing happened to me so my neighbour said look you do this! The needle pinged out and onto the floor😀. I have spares and are hoping I can get a replacement needle. How are you doing with Peg?

Well I finished up having a real wobble and my husband ran across the road to bring a neighbour who was so good to me and did it straight away. I have only had two doses but the only side effect seems to be hot sweats hope it stays that way. I have my bloods done again in 10 days so fingers crossed. How are you doing with it.

Hi Hughley. It gets easier after you've done a few injections so I'm sure you'll be OK. Just a note that some people can take a while for Pegasys to have an effect on bloods. I was fortunate and had a quick response, but others on this site have noted that it can take some time, and often people remain on HU until the Pegasys takes effect. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply I’m just hoping that I will be better with it next Thursday I’ve got a tray already for it. At the moment I take 2 hydroxycarbamide a day and 45 of Pegasus interferon so hope it works on my platelets

First of all don’t worry. It gets easier. The preparation bit was more of a problem to me too than the actual injection. Regards snapping the end off it helps to firstly see where the end actually separates. I found it was closer to the main part than I thought. If you run your thumb nail round till you find the groove it will help to see where it separates. I kept the ‘lid’ of an old one so I could see next time where the break would be. Now it is easy. I simply gently wiggle it left and right and it snaps off. Hope that helps and good luck next time
