Does anyone know if it's okay to take vitamin D supplement with hydroxycarbamide? I also take perindopril, clopidogrel and an atorvastatin. Just interested in the results from the calcifediol research with covid. Thought it might be worth taking a vit D supplement while im waiting for vaccine and wondered if it would be ok and thought someone in here might know . Thank you 😊 carolann xx

My hemo told me to take 4 - 5 thousand units a day and I take hydroxyurea. I had been taking only twice thousand per day.

Ran the interaction check in ePocrates, including Vitamin D. The only interaction that showed up is below. I expect the Vit D is fine, but always best to check with your care team. I would note that Vit D deficiency can in fact cause serious problems. I do favor a considered approach and prefer to base dosing with supplements on actual need. I did the lab and was found to be Vit D deficient (related to NF1) and take 3000IU/day.

Monitor/Modify Tx

atorvastatin + clopidogrel

monitor CK, myopathy sx: combo may incr. atorvastatin levels, risk of myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, other adverse effects (hepatic transport inhibited)
