Vaccinate or not?

I have just spoken with my haematologists office and asked what is recommended for those taking Hydroxy etc. We are advised to have a vaccination, it doesn't matter which one. If you have Aplastic Anemia then he would speak with you first. So pleased I've been given the go ahead!

Hi Jenny thanks for your reassuring post. . I too was told that on 23rd December and posted similar, , better to have it than not though in the time it obviously hasn't been possible to 'destruction'' test vaccines efficacy in all types of scenario. And since then the debate about the Oxford one being live has muddied the water.

Currently 2 members of my family have had Covid and 4 have it now with varying symptoms but it s certainly an unpleasant thing to deal with both physically andin some cases mentally. Two are feeling light headed or disorientated by it though having no appetite doesn't help. Interestingly 3 started with nothing more than cold like symptoms ie sneezing and runny nose, slight cough. All are very fatigued.

Seeing or more accurately hearing them suffer with what appears to be mid range Covid thus far I for one can't wait to be called up to join the ranks of the vaccinated.

Regards - Chris

Hi, so sorry your family has been hit with covid like this, does sound to be a horrible disease. Hope all recover quickly. I only know of one daughter of a friend who now has long covid after suffering. When will this be over? Sooner rather than later we hope!!! Take care.

Thanks I'm hopeful each will make a full recovery soon but one in her 40s has Asthma so could be problematic, fingers crossed not. , one of our Grandkids teachers now has long Covid and is struggling after many weeks. Out of interest and coz I like typing so much 😃 the background story is that my Dad (85) who trundles only to his local One Stop shop daily, and butcher , post office every few days got it in the days leading up to Christmas even though there were seemingly few cases in his locality. He wears his mask but i guess doesn't always use his hand gel after going in out the shop and uses cash for his shopping. So he could of picked it up off door handles, produce or coins rather than a person but we don't know.

It was a toss up whether Dad would come to us or go my Sisters for his Christmas dinner but she has a downstairs loo and lives close by plus we already had my Sis in Law coming.

Decision made. My Brother in Law who picked him up and took him home started with symptoms a few days later. Then my Sister started a few days after that having got it from my Bro in law.

But her Daughter and son in law who also had dinner with them didn't get it. So it was perhaps when my Brother in law was in the car with Dad that he got it.

Then came numerous calls from track and trace, not very helpful ringing my Dad at 8AM and bombarding him with questions when hes unwell and confused. Then a call to my Sister the caller telling her "I'm just out walking my dog whilst I chat to you its a lovely morning" sister says you lucky so and so rub it in why don't you I'd love to take my dogs out but can hardly move !

A couple of final points , my Sister was told you can test positive for 8-10 weeks after you had it. Dad can have his vaccine in a few weeks if he's feeling up to it by then.

Sorry if I've bored the pants off you but it's filled half an hour for me in what are very long days at this time of year. Remember how lovely it was in the last lockdown ?

Going to rearrange my sock draw again now.

Hi Chris What a story, shows how easy it is to pick it up. I hope all your relatives recover soon with no long term damage. The only way to avoid is it appears is isolation, you have to be very cautious . I must say we , personally , are in a very fortunate position as we have a garden so even going outside to hang the washing out is a privilege when one thinks of the sad situation of family’s stuck in high rise flats etc. My heart goes out to them, I must admit I really miss seeing family and friends BUT what must be done..must be done . Hopefully things will get safer soon.

Love to all. Stay safe 😷👍🏻Sandy x

Hi Chris I hope that all your family members will be feeling better soon. It is almost impossible to figure out when and where one picks it up. We had many people at my work and it seems so random. I live by just try to minimizing the odds as much as humanly possible. I just get so angry at the people who don’t care. I am in Costa Rica and people here a genuinely kind folks and do their best it seems. That cannot be said for many of the tourists we get especially from the USA. The country heavily relies on tourism . We are not such a strong economy that can support people while they are not working. There is light at the end of the tunnel though. Now I killed 20 minutes too:) Best to you and you family!

I think it is good as long as people respect the guidelines and each other. I understand how frustrated people are and hopefully soon we all can relax a bit again:) It will be amazing to travel again without fear.
