Hi Netty,

Did you receive a shielding letter? This is key for the current round of vaccinations.(Or if you are over 70)

I guess the answer yes or no is contact your GP.

If yes then you should be eligible and there may be something wrong on the GP records, if you didnt receive a shielding letter, you should have as MPN's are classed as blood cancer and you should have been asked to shield....also this lies with your GP to sort.

The only other reason i can think is you are in an area where its still invite only and if you havent had your invite yet you should wait until you do, but as its now only a week away from the deadline i think i would be thinking about contact the GP for guidance on that too.

After reading your reply Paul, I got straight on the phone to my Gp's and i'm glad I did! My surgery told me they were following Government guidance and they were vaccinating by age and they had just finished the over 80's and were going to start on the 60's to 75's next. I asked what had happened to the CEV and got the same answer about Government guidance. I went back and forth with this continually telling them it wasn't age related and they wasn't vaccinating against the simple Flu. In the end I terminated the call. I can't believe in the beginning I was adament I wasn't going to have the vaccine and then decided it was wiser to have it and now my Surgery isn't following the Governments advice. I suggest others here phone their surgery and not to wait if they haven't heard anything yet about their vaccination.☹Tina.🤗

I had my bloods done yesterday and asked what 'group' I was in. On my GP's system I'm group 6 (at risk). The nurse said that I should be getting my vaccine appointment within the next few weeks as they're getting through them quickly - while I was sat waiting for my appointment (ten minutes) at least 30 arrived for their vaccine - I'm happy with that. :)

Dread to think when I would've had mine done at Gp's. They have only just finished the over 80's and don't seem to be following Government guidance anyway. Luckily my Daughter booked me via the NHS online booking system. 1st jab tomorrow, 2nd jab on the 29th April. Tina.🤗

It appears to be a lottery, some are able tn book others having similar to you. Did you have shielding letter?

Hello Netty, The same thing happened to me. I have ET and Kidney disease. I spoke to my CNS at the hospital to check that all MPN patients were in group 4 as per the information on Blood Cancer UK and MPN voice and she said there is some variation and it depends on age, treatment and deemed risk level ! That is not the approach I understood the NHS at national level was taking -which is to deem all MPN patients as CEV. Very frustrating and confusing. I have now had to contact my GP and explain I have an MPN and have been shielding since March and believe I am in group 4 but have not had an appointment. Still waiting for a reply.

Why are some MPN patients in group 4 and some pushed down to lower groups when we are all supposed to be CEV ? If my GP is doing it by age like Tina's ,I will be in group 9 the same as a perfectly healthy 50+ year old - bonkers !!

Thats exactly what I thought, so my Daughter booked in online, it appears to be a lottery if you can but surely worth a try. Wishing you luck.🤞 Tina.🤗

As of yesterday it was announced that all over 70s can book for themselves. Nothing said about the CEV group.

You might try ringing 119 and explaining your case to a human being rather than getting 'Computer says No' from the website.

I spoke to 119 yesterday and found the call handler extremely helpful and friendly.

Yes snap. I have just been offered a jab via my GP. I inquired if it was because I was extremely vulnerable. No, it’s because I’m over 65(just) lol x

😆😆 I'm just under 65, mine was because I'm classed as highly vulnerable.Have a good day
