Before I made the move to Stratford upon Avon I had a DAXA test done (measures bone density). I had had it done 3 years previously but after breaking 2 ribs just bending over it was decided to bring my follow up test forward 2 years. The results stated a significant decrease ( >10%) in all areas except my right hip where there was a marked increase in bone growth and that this should be investigated. When I registered with a new GP I showed him the report and he told me to leave it with him while he made some enquiries. A week or two later I was just settling down to Coronation street when my doctor phoned me. He said he had been talking to his father in law about me because he was a retired oncologist from the region. He was asking all about dates and treatments for my previous breast cancer because he was seeing his father in law the next day and he was going to get his advice. Well to make a very long story short I was referred for an x-ray of my hip on the 26th of January. Yesterday (31st) my doctor called to say he had had the results from my x-ray and he was referring me back to the breast clinic for further tests on my hip.
You can imagine how scared I am. I think I must have had a very wicked former life. We are just praying that it turns out to be nothing but the fear is choking me. Please say a prayer that everything is okay

Oh Jill, how upsetting and frightening for you! I’m so sorry to hear about this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers most certainly. Hang on in there and let’s hope, as Hunter says, it’s a ‘tempest’ in a teapot. Love, Fran 💕💕
Hi you must be worried but I pray it’s all ok for you hopefully you won’t wait long for your appointment your doctor sounds very good even if he has frightened you keep faith best wishes Poppy
Hang in there. Take things a hour or day at a time. Do some things that u love to do to try and distract yourself. I will be thinking positive thoughts for you . X
Hi Jilly, so sorry to hear that you have all this worry at the moment you have been through so much this last couple of years.A close friend of mine who also had breast cancer oh some twelve years ago now and she also has been told that she is going to have to see an endocrinologist as her bloods are all over the place, so they are looking into why she is getting lots of problems, plus she was loosing a lot of weight, she thought it was down to the fact that she was doing the Keto diet, but it also turned out that she also has been told she has celiac disease and her bones are brittle and lots of other problems, she like you is very down about it all.
They did say they felt the previous treatment she went through have caused other problems down the line, but they seem to think they are going to get to the bottom of it all. So know how you are feeling.
So going to keep everything crossed for you my friend.
Jilly, I'm so sorry to hear all of this. It's all so upsetting. I went through a similar situation just a few months before the pandemic and after not being able to sleep for a week, all turned out to be fine. I'm hoping that you have some wonderfully cautious and careful doctors who, in the end, will have nothing but good news to report. I'll hold you in my prayers with all fingers crossed. Kim
Sorry to hear your having such a tough time, it sounds like you have an amazing GP who I’m sure will be supporting you. Take care and remember you have the support of your MPN family xx
Sending you healing hugs 😘 it sounds like your GP is on the ball and is making sure everything is going in the right direction. Hopefully further tests will turn out well, but, obviously, worrying until you get the results. You can do this and come out stronger! 🥰
Hi, I don't often join in conversations on here, but I do read them everyday. I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry to hear you have go through all this worry. Bad enough that we've all been struggling to live with Covid for the past few years.
I do wish you well and I include you in my positive thoughts for you.
I am sorry to hear this news Jilly, I am in a similar boat now, but mine is a prostate tumour, that is well advanced for my age (67yrs), unfortunately. I am up for a bone scan to establish the state of secondaries and by extension life expectancy. I am in the process of adjusting to the new reality.
Jill I am so sorry to hear this. It’s so unfair after you have just settled into your new life in Stratford. Your doctor seems very on the ball and it sounds like he will support you whatever the outcome. I hope he is just being cautious and everything turns out ok. Sending lots of love and positive thoughts. Karen xx
Dear jilly, you seem to have a wonderful caring doctor so try to leave it in his hands for the moment. Jesus says in the bible , " sufficient for each day is it's own anxiety " so it means, to the best of your ability focus on today and every time you start to worry, refuse to do so. I did this when I had a breast scare and it greatly reduced the stress . Ofcourse things said are much easier then done. Thinking of you 🌾🌺🥀🌻🌼
I hope you get to the bottom of this soon and that things are ok. A friend of a friend who also had had breast cancer in the past had a problem with her hip last year. It was unfortunately found to be a tumour. It was promptly treated, it's shrunk and she's doing fine. Please try not to over worry and lean on your family and friends for support to help you through x
Oh dear so sorry to hear about your situation. I m praying as I text. It seems that you are in excellent hands. I hope having such a good GP is giving you some solace.💝💝💐💐
I understand your fear but you don’t know anything negative yet so try and be positive and do the things you like doing, be kind to yourself. I will keep you in my prayers. Sending good thoughts❤️
You are not alone my dear we are here for you, remember this to will pass. Thinking of you and sending good vibrations.🙏 Adiewon
Hi jillydabrat, thinking of you , like yourself I had breast cancer a couple of years ago and also lung cancer last year. All I can say is please 🙏 be positive thinking of you.x
Hi, I have ET and also low bone density. When my MPN specialist put me onto Hydroxycarbomide I immediately asked him if this drug would have an effect on my bone density( so many drugs do). He advised that the drug would have an effect on my bones and 'not in a good way', explaining it caused the bones to 'thicken' over time. (Great, as if they were not bad enough). So I was advised to request a Dexa scan via my GP sometime in the future so we could compare bones then to bones now. I have no idea how thickened bones show up on a Dexa compared to thinning bones but I expect the change possibly makes them more brittle. One step forward and two back springs to mind! Try not to worry too much, perhaps your situation relates to this bone change as a result of medication but it is better to have a thorough investigation. Hope all works out well for you.
I am so sorry you are in this situation. A few years ago my husband had bowel cancer picked up during a routine investigation. During the very thorough tests all sorts of abnormalities were found on scans. It all looked very grim and of course we were overwhelmed with worry having been advised to prepare for the worst. He did have successful surgery and the abnormalities in his liver were found to be normal abnormalities. It was such an incredible outcome and a reminder there is always hope.I am thinking of you and wish you all the best. Your are in good hands.
