This is the first year for having the flu jab and Pegasys asI started Peg in March. I’m now on Peg 90mg every 2 weeks because of the shortage. I do have a dry mouth which started 4 months after starting Peg but doesn’t concern my haematologist. Otherwise fine. I mentioned the flu jab to him and he said just have it a few days after my Peg jab. Any advice please about the timing? Thanks Irene

I have been on weekly peg for 18 months, last year at 68 mcg/ML for flu vaccine and this year at 90 mcg/ML for flu vaccine. Both times was advised by hematology oncologist to get the vaccine and schedule it outside of the peg half life period, roughly the 3 days post peg injection when it is the strongest. She said do as a precaution as I am sensitive to most drugs. Did that both years and reacted the same way with light flu symptoms that lasted 2 days. My arm receiving the shot, however, remained, swollen, red and tender for nearly a week after. I didn't feel so bad but inconvenienced my little schnauzer whose daily walks were shorter than usual. After two week wait, just had first ever shingles/shingrix vaccine and followed same pattern. My arm has a red spot that is tender but nothing as bad as like the flu shot and no other side effects. Have not tried covid booster yet. Still on the fence about getting it. Good luck to you.
