Forgot to take Aspirin

I've just realised that I forgot to take my Aspirin yesterday (I usually take it between 6 and 9 pm) - should I take it now or just forget about it?

Have to say if I do that I just forget about it and carry on as normal next day .

Don’t think forgetting one will have any ill effects .

Agree with Helen - 1 day shouldn't make any difference

I agree too. My haem told me that aspirin is cumulative so missing a day isn't a problem. In fact she suggested that I took one on alternate days to see whether that helps with the rushing noise I get in my ears. I did it for a month but it didn't make any difference so I've reverted to taking one every day - it is easier on the memory to take it every day than to try to remember whether it is a 'miss' day or not. I always take it on a full stomach, eg after a meal. If I'm out for the evening meal and I forget or haven't brought it with me I don't worry about it.

I'm taking the gastro-resistant coated ones, I usually take it after eating - but I was wondering as it's gastro resistant would it be ok to take it on an empty stomach?

I really wouldn’t worry about it. I only take aspirin on alternate days (my platelets are around 1300). And in any event if you need surgery or if for example, you have to take clotting drugs like tranexamic acid for periods, then you have to stop aspirin for a while. The Prof told me that there was evidence to suggest a negative impact of too much aspirin but nothing to suggest the same was true of a lesser dose. And yes, i’d definitely take enteric coated aspirin - even though my NHS GP won’t / can’t prescribe them. I just buy them OTC. I don’t really worry about when I take the dose. I try and aim for breakfast. Depends how focussed I am and when I make contact with my dossette box!
