Hi I'm about to go on holiday and my travel insurance has expired...and of course since last year I've been diagnosed with PV.
Anyone have any experience of getting travel insurance or any issues before I start looking / renew etc ? (I'm in the UK btw)
Thanks !

I used one of the travel companies listed in the travel and insurance leaflet on MPN voice website. I have ET and had previous portal vein thrombosis. Not on anti clotting meds anymore but on meds for the ET. I did get travel insurance ok and I have other medical conditions to. There are a quite few companies who provide insurance for us MPNers. If you also search travel insurance on this site you will see lots of useful previous posts and replies. Good luck and hope you enjoy your next trip Liz x
I've just been on a 2 week holiday to Ireland and took out a single trip policy with Columbus. I bought on line and it was straightforward. I declared my MPN. The policy without cover for it would have been £35. I paid £55. Quite a difference really. I'm 58 and have PV.
Hi I have ET, I pay £12 a month with my bank accout which gives me breakdown cover , mobile phone insurance and travel insurance. It sounds a lot but the travel insurance covers me all year no matter where I go without having to think about it. I declared my ET and was asked about clots of which I have not had and there was no problem. It gives me peace of mind as I recently was made aware you need to take out travel insurance when you book travel and not from when you go in case ylu need to cancel.
I did a quote with Tesco yesterday for a family worldwide insurance and I have myelofibrosis which they asked about blood counts, that came out at £235.00 for the year. Give them a try it was all online so very easy to do. Regards Nick.
Nick, don't wish to be negative. However, tried Tesco yesterday and after accepting me I then read small print only to discover that they will not cover pre-existing conditions at all. Confirmed this with a telephone call to Tesco.
