Hi before i see Doctor at hospital when i have my usual blood test before , she has asked for a LDH test ? so was wondering what this means regards Holly

I've had it several times. It basically tells tissue damage. I had it the first couple of times after I had two strokes. Then I had it again as a normalized value and then again when I had a heart attack after heart surgery. Feel free to pm me if you want to talk about the specifics of results. After tissue damage, levels can spike super high. Then it takes a bit of time and they slowly slide down and then they fall back to normal. It sounds like the doc may be looking for extra medularhematopoesis. Basically a stem cell going to your liver, kidney or spleen and making blood there. Nothing to freak about. The docs can handle it with a change of meds or targeted radiation therapy. Hope that helps....

I'm glad you asked this question - I have a new consultant and he has requested this as part of my next blood test, I thought it had to do with cholesterol or something!! So thank you all for clarifying.
