Anyone had a cardiac event monitor?

Hi all. I have been told that I have to have a cardiac event monitor fitted for 3 days, following a TIA earlier this summer. I would appreciate any advice on how to manage with it, sleeping etc.

Many thanks

John

Hi John

I had to wear one for 24 hours earlier this summer. Couldn’t shower while I had it on which was bad enough for 1 day, so they’ll probably have some suggestions for you for 3! I had no difficulty doing anything else with it on - sleeping, brisk walking etc. I don’t think you’ll find it’s much of a bother, and I hope it goes well for you.

My husband had to wear one for 3 days. He was allowed to take it off to shower and then put it back on. Three days went quickly for him. It was a little surprising when it would begin its check but no real trouble.

Hi and many thanks for responding - I really appreciate it. I'm in the hospital "queue" right now so should be wired for sound very soon.

Best regards

John

Hi, I had to have one on for three days following a TIA last year. It felt awkard to start with but after a couple of hours didn't really notice it. I thought the same about sleeping but didn't have any problems really, my other half teased me about it which distracted me from why I had to wear it. Hope this helps a little bit.

Many thanks Nettie,

It's good to know that others have had one without problems. I have discovered a different world since I had my TIA. I have learned so much and realised that I know so little 🤔

Nothing to it. Mine just hung around my neck. Many years ago though.

Thanks Wyebird,

Got it fitted now (clips on belt rather than around neck). As you day, nothing to it so far

Haven't figured that one out yet! I'll probably sleep in a T shirt with breast pocket and put it in there.

I had to wear one for 30 days for arythmiaa. Had to put on new electrodes everday. They gave me a cell phone that would record and send data to Dr every day. I was also given a device to send data immediately if I felt I was have an arythmia event and would send data immediately.

Even 30 days wasn't a big deal. Just had to keep chest shaved where the electodes were placed.

Thanks Reatton,

I've got it fitted now and it seems pretty unobtrusive. It'll be interesting to see if it finds anything.

Cheers

Hi Linda. Just to set your mind at ease, it was an absolute breeze. It took only a few minutes to fit and once fitted it makes no noise or any other distractions. Mine came with a belt clip, but some have a neck band. They fit 3 sticky pads and attach a wire to each - job done!

Thank you John, I'm sure it will be ok only 24hrs. Having it removed on my birthday.
