What was the alternative?

in reply toNickyb57

The alternative was natto without vit k..Patient was not on any meds for this condition, nor did they have any other medical conditions .Their program was monitored and took a long time to reduce the plt counts. The counts would flutucate up & down. But whether it would work for everyone, that is trial & error.

Read my reply answers on the above posts. As stated no other health issues, was monitored by their doctor, and the program took quite awhile, and has never taken any Hu meds for their condition... That's not to say it will work for everyone. I hope this was helpful. Do you presently have E.T,. if so, how long, and are you presentlhy taking the Hu meds, & how many mg's daily?

If this could be brought to the attention to some of the medical researchers, they would find it very interesting. Even though it is an alternative, it might bring some light on this matter.

I also know of someone whose counts have been kept under control with natto. A question asked about natto "on high" (MPN Specialists) brought very little response from the medics. I also know of people who have had no response from Natto. I would be very interested to know why we are all so different in our response to the various meds available and why disease progression is so variable also.

The problem with research into a natural product is where the funding comes from so I don't see much happening in research into natto. It would be good if I am wrong.

Do not expect response from the MPN Specialist, it's going outside the realm, so to speak. It's alternative. Bear in mind that all Dr.s study medicine, and alternative are not included, and even if it raises some thoughts on the natto, there is no funding, period. That is where some medical scientist who ( is outside the box) and has the funds (doubtful) would delve into this.

As to people you mentioned had no response from the Natto, for how long did they stay with their trial, assuming of course they had no other medical issues before entering the natto program. The individual who was successful stuck with it, and of course their were the fluctuation in the counts up & down over a period of time, but stayed with it, and had their couns monitored, & kep a diligent record over the period of time.

As to why we are all different to various meds, and why we respond differently, good question.

Why do some take 2 a day and some 1 a day. Alll going back to the bone marrow and how fast or slow it is responding I guess.

I have a firm belief that there are many "natural" cures out there if we only knew about them. The problem with our capitalist society is that there is no money in researching them. There are many doctors out there who hold the same belief but what can they do? We are becoming more and more litigious so they dare not step out of the box. Mankind, as usual, is its own worst enemy! Rant over!

I looked back through the archives of the Clinic in MPNForum and found this quote regarding Natto from Claire Harrison "CH: I have no experience of this agent but I do see some literature of its lack of efficacy in preventing heart disease and risk of hemorrhage when combined with aspirin. So I would avoid combining the agents and not use if you have had bleeding with regard to reducing platelets I haven’t seen this".
