Some days ago this video popped in my youtube about link between ET and colon or lung cancer. It said something like around 16% of ET patiens could develop lung or colon cancer. Anyone got some info or insight about this thing. I am diagnosed for 1 year wit JAK2 ET. Platelets are steady in the range of 650. I had some stomach problems and had gastritis before. I still have little discomfort in my stomach and I am a little worried about it.

Hi. I have ET and a strong family history of colon cancer. My father and grandmother passed from it. I've had digestive issues way more than what's normal for years but I've never chased it down.
Hi there -coincidentally had colon cancer got all clear 2020 then told had ET -JAK 2- never mention to me about there being a connection!! I am very surprised at this ????!!
The internet sometimes is a horrible place! If you ever read anything it seems worse case scenario. I would talk to your doctor try what they tell you, don’t put the cart before the horse. And keep up on all screens like if you need a colonoscopy. That is one of the best preventative tests in medicine. You sound like me! My husband constantly talks me off the ledge! Even things I know are normal being over 40 things, I can talk myself into anything. I had issues before I got diagnosed with PV. I thought I had an ulcer! Had horrible gastritis. GI still never figured out my problem but ruled out an ulcer by an EGD. I think back on that year. I was on crazy migraine medication, had an EGD, ultrasound, ER visit and I still diagnosed myself with PV. It will be ok.🙂.
Hi, I developed gastritis after a year on hydroxy. I was told it was more than likely the drug was causing this, I was very uncomfortable but I had it fully investigated. A course of ant acids settled it down for a number of months but unfortunately it has flared up again but I really do not want to be on any more medication, I think our livers do well to cope with the toxic drugs we have to take for our blood condition. It is hard not to worry and easy to blame every symptom on our existing blood disorder but it is wise to get symptoms checked out. Good luck.
That’s interesting. I have ET and currently undergoing treatment for Stage 3 Colon Cancer. I wonder what the link is though? Try not to worry as over 80% do not get it.
