I've posted previously and I am still waiting for my JAK2 results some 6 weeks later. My GP is fab and she sent some chasers last week. The waiting is excruciating. Is this a normal time to wait - I thought it took 2/3 weeks?

How long for JAK2 results?
I would not get too worried about the wait for JAK2 results. They are not, of themselves, diagnostic. Perhaps they take longer through GP rather than MPN specialist. What are your Platelet levels and age? Do you have any history of cardiac or stroke problems? Have you had a Bone Marrow Biopsy?
Hi thanks for response. I realise there are lots of factors to take into account. Perhaps I'm wrong but I feel a positive jak2 will be definitive in an MPN diagnosis. Which one is another issue - presumably if I test positive then they may do a BMB? I've had 4 high platelet readings (all over 450, highest being 502) and I've been treated for a previous pulmonary embolism at 18. I appreciate that lots of people on here have much higher platelet levels but I've also read that there isn't a direct correlation between platelet levels and clot incidence. I'm 39 now with no worrying symptoms since the PE. I feel extremely fatigued, for some reason I've had daily allergies for last 3 months (itchy throat etc) and feeling like pins and needles in hands on and off (circulation seems OK as my hands are always warm) Generally, I have always been very warm and sweat a lot. Everything in my bloid results is normal from rbc, hematocrit, liver, kidney function; thyroid and my HBA1C is fine. CRP and Esr levels also normal. All I have noticed is that the majority of my wbc are all the max of normal. Who knows?! Just wish I had the JAK2 back.
I waited 6 weeks. Kind regards Aime.xx but try not to worry so much. I’m jak2 and jak2 Xeon negative , don’t have PV but still have too many red blood cells with the same symptoms and treatment. I know it is really frustrating and understand totally how you are feeling but try (not easy) to enjoy your days and Christmas, etc and don’t let precious times be eaten up by waiting for results. Aime xx😺😺
Ps it’s like a jigsaw puzzle which sometimes takes a while to complete. E hugs attached
Thank you for your reassuring words Aime - that's so kind. I'm not the most patient person at the best of times and I desperately dislike not being in control! But, you're right - enough time wasted stressing, I shall enjoy Christmas! I hope you have a lovely Christmas too x x
