Taking almotriptan 20mg and 900mg aspirin 3/4 times every month for 5 years is safe?

I have traces of blood in my urine since months now, I have done an ultrasound scan and a cystoscopy but it’s all clear. Can be the aspirin?

We're not qualified to say. I currently take Amitriptyline 175mg and 6-12 zolmitripan a month for about 10 years and Botox and before then the 10 years before that many other things. Never worried too much about long term health as the pain made me suicidal.

The fact is some people will be more sensitive than others, some will be able to tolerate things others can't. People on medication have a statically shorter lives than those on nothing but then that's hardly surprising. Sorry not much help. Sounds like you are having more detailed tests, does your doctor not have an opinion?

The microbleeding often shows up as a first sign in the urine whether male or female so its a good idea to check with the doctor for microbleeds in the stomache, intestine, etc.

Taking aspirin for prolonged periods can cause microbleeds in the stomache.

Right, the stomach...not the bladder, though I imagine it could make any bleeding already there, a bit worse. Also 3-4 times a month doesn't seem like it would be so harmful. Taking aspirin everyday is the highest risk. Hope__: You really need to talk to your doctor, but could be a bladder infection. I take a very similar triptan/NSAID combo of almotriptan and indomethacin, for my migraines. But I always take 20mg omeprezole (and sometimes zantac) with it for extra stomach protection...also, it's an indomethacin suppository for even greater reduction of agitation to the stomach lining. Just ask your doctor about something to protect your stomach, if you are worried. That won't help your bladder, however.... But I'm no doctor! So please talk to your doctor. :)

I'm sure "Hope__" has spoken to doctor otherwise "Hope__" would not have had "ultrasound scan and a cystoscopy". Blood in urine may be due to various reasons depending male or female and also age. Older people with enlarged prostate can have blood in urine. Kidney stone or UTI always have pain as well.

I sincerely hope not - but sometimes it can be a sign of cancer, so Hope__ must persuade the doctors to keep investigating until they know for sure what is the exact reason. Not easy to do these at the moment due to Covid-19 though !

Sorry, I just didn't want to start listing scary things, especially as a non-professional. UTI's are common and mostly benign, but I really should not have offered any suggestions of what it could be, and I'm sorry that I did. That's not my place. I don't know what it is, only that Aspirin (and NSAIDs) can hurt the stomach and intestines because it's a big worry for me on similar meds. Also, why is she asking here if she has spoken to her doctor about this particular issue? She needs to ask her doctor if it could be the Aspirin.

Thank you all for replying

I did speak to my doctor and also told her about the aspirin, that is why she sent me for more tests. After the clear results of the tests , with covid 19 I couldn’t do anything else neither seeing my doctor. As not priority at the moment.

So I am waiting and researching for more information.
