I have been suffering with depression for years now. Had a bad spurt just recently but have pulled myself through using counselling and ad's. My problem now is I'm over weight not by a lot maybe 2 stone. I work out in the gym, I run, and I have now started to cut down my food consumption. I lost a lot of weight before and only managed to do it by using lighter life food supplements. Which was drastic. I get so low because I can't lose weight by eating, which is what I want to do.
I hate my shape, my lack of self esteem, I just want to be happy in my own skin, and I'm not. I just feel that whenever I try anything I take one step forward then three backwards. It's an endless battle that I don't think I have the strength to win.

People with depression are some of the strongest and lots of them are on here. So you will win this battle and lose weight if you really want to. It's hard to focus when you you are depressed though so be kind to yourself and be patient. You are trying very hard , so be proud of yourself for trying. One step at a time is the way to go and good luck. xx
Hi
Everything you are saying is true of me too - pulling myself over deep depression with therapy but need to lose the weight, tried Lighter Life and also go to the gym now but hard to lose it and I get low because of that. It feels circular.
I've just seen someone this morning from the Health Improvements team via the GP and realise there is a lot more support out there than I thought. It might be worth seeing if you can get referred, they are great on advice, exercise opportunities and CBT type therapy for weight management as well as knowing about local support groups. Maybe worth a try.
Keep on trying, we have to, it won't happn on it's own! We'll feeel much better once the warm weather comes as well. I'd like to get a dog but my husband says no, I'll try again to persaude him.
sometimes our systems get sluggish, and the antis, can make you put on weight, but dont forget muscle your building weighs more,, as your shape defines. Dont hit yourself with it, diet chef, is good. I loved the food, as I didnt have to prepare anything, and it was cooked in the micro. When depressed I cant be bothered to prepare let along cook food. So it was a angel to me, if I lost weight it was a bonus.
And when we get older we dont need as much food, so it helps with portion control good luck and stop hitting yourself with a hammer, your doing great, I havent even managed to get to the gym yet, let alone go out of the house to ride the bike, your an inspiration to me!!! I need to loose more than you!!
