How can I improve habit forming of doing morning exercises and waking up early? I tried but couldn't. I woke up usually at 8:30 am.

to ‘try’ is to give yourself permission to not do something? Make yourself a plan with a reward to yourself for achievement. But keep your targets simple and realistic. Maybe work on getting up earlier first. Leave alarm out of reach so that you can’t hit the snooze button! Reward…a lovely long shower or a buttered toasted tea cake, or …well, you get the gist. Do this for a week or so then move the goal posts, getting up 30mins earlier for another week or so. May not seem like much but it’s a way of moving forward? Get comfortable with getting up before you think about exercising

It all seems automatic with us, although being a pensioner we wake up at the same time now and listen to the news for a couple of hours before breakfast at nine. so technically we could be up at 07; 00am.

Strange to say when we are younger we always seem to have problems, we get fixated to the bed and have problems expecially when attending college or work.

I have seen alarm clocks that you set at two different times set the times at two earlier times the first time wakes you up to alarm or radio, the second time will give a second alarm at the given time. that may help you

Of course if you are lazy and refuse to rise, life can prove to be more complex when getting to work etc it is then down to you. I used to be the same, kidnapped by my bed.

You can also try and control the time you go to bed and get up in the morning, many people I know have a tea made with alarm, you get up to a cup of tea that you can drink as you get washed. The only other ways I will suggest, someone can wake you up at gunpoint LOL

Move the alarm clock away from the bed so you have to get up to switch it of, that may force you to stay awake

If you follow the rule - which is very simple and effective - of doing 10 days in a row, what you want to do, you will automatically do it for a long time. There are a lot of people who do morning exercises, but giving up after two weeks. The reason is simple - they don't want to do it every morning, but only every two weeks. If you want to start incorporating morning exercise in your routine, then tell yourself: "I will do it every day from Monday to Friday". Then you are not imposing any restriction or requirement on yourself. You are not chasing your own goal, because you already got it. You already achieved your goal and you don't have to do anything else. This is exactly what you wanted and if you are happy with that, why do you need to do it every morning? To your surprise, you will find out that you are doing it every morning, while you have already achieved your goal and after 10 days, you will do it automatically, without thinking about it.
