Lithium good or evil
Have not tried it although never been offered, it has some interesting other applications I suppose, Lithium used in heavy duty batteries, I think. Have just orgered a heavy duty solar generator in the batteries are of that material. I THINK. Rare chemical
If you have been prescribed this medication they must feel it is beneficial for you to take ?
They send you the leaflet first which you must read first before agreeing to take itReading the side effects and possible outcomes it’s frightening. They don’t want to be at all responsible for the effect it has on you
I will need to check on this medication I do not know cause effect etc all I know, if it is the same stuff it is used in high power batteries. I have just purchased a Solar Generator and the battery and the solar panels store electricity on these, so believe me nothing surprises me these days. Have a look tomorrow
Lithium has been used for a long time, it's very safe. I've taken it in the past and found it very helpful.
I can't remember how long it takes to work, I think it is faster than SSRIs. For me it made me feel a bit greyed out, reduced my emotional range, but that was a good thing initially.
It also helped me focus on other things and doing what I needed to do to get better.
I have been on it for about a year and a half along with an anti depressant. It has helped me quite a bit. I am less anxious and feel more able to do things like going out and about. My head feels clearer
It is certainly worth a try
Hi - I have been on LITHIUM quite a few years ago, and to be honest I didn't really feel like it helped me. As far as the Side effects go I think I remember feeling a bit nauseaus but not intolerable. I do remember that you have to have regular blood tests to check the drug is not affecting your liver and kidneys - as far as I can remember. I was prescribed it originally as I had started suffering from Manic Depression - now Bi-polar disorder!
Anyway I took it for a few years and then it was discontinued. I guess that you are probably being prescribed it as a Mood Stabilizer, so I really would talk to your Psychiatrist about it or even your GP. I hope you get some benefit from it if you decide to go ahead. Jon
How many mg did you take (the dose)?
Lithium is not a drug it is an elemental supplement most usually as lithium carbonate but more usefully as lithium orotate, advice is that it is neuro-protective and aids in neuro-plasticity, often used to treat manic depressive conditions. It is said also to encourage better communication within the brain through cellular development.
