Can anyone send some advice about managing bile reflux. I had my gall bladder out 8 months ago and have been fine. Now I am having gallbladder attacks without a gallbladder!!!!! Thanks in advance.

hello, because the gallbladder stored bile ready to break down food when we eat, it now just drips into the system once you have it removed, this can cause the reflux and issues with bowels.

If you’re eating your meals in larger portions, it’s better to have smaller portions, say 6 instead of 3, what you eat can contribute to reflux. Taking anti acid if you can would help.

It’s the body adjusting to the fact there is no storage of bile in the gallbladder, it’s just in your system… I hope I’ve helped a little. I’m due to have my gallbladder out next month so I’ve been researching all of this.

thank you so much for your help. Do you plan to take any digestive enzymes at all?

I’ve only just discovered this website so I didn’t know if I’d be too late replying.

My diet already contains a lot of naturally occurring digestive enzymes, such as avocado, bananas, pineapple, kiwi, raw honey. My mum had her choley a month ago, it seems we have hereditary gallstones, which is irritating when our diet hasn’t contributed to them, they were totally out of our control.

Following this with interest! Had my gall bladder just over three weeks ago and initially all felt good ( once I got over the recovery period) but now getting the gall bladder twinges back!! I presume it is my body just healing and adjusting to life without a gall bladder … hopefully!

let’s hope so. Currently in hospital with another flare up. Every attack is more severe it is actually worse than before the operation.
