Now my doctor has weaned me off Paroxetine from 40mg down to nil. I feel like a Zombie, just want to sleep, I feel weak and shaky . I’ve been off it for a week , she’s changed me to Trazodone , which I only started last night. Is this normal . Has anyone had this kind of thing happen . Maybe it is withdrawal symptoms because the Paroxetine, I had been on it for over 20 years. Thanking you in advance for any comments.

Hi, I was on paroxetine for a number of years and swear by it, however it wasn’t working for me anymore so had to wean off but I found it absolutely fine? I was only off it 3 days before starting mirtazapine. I’ve just came off that and started venlafaxine this morning. It’s always difficult to pinpoint where the effects are coming from when stopping one medication to start another. It could be a mixture? I hope you start to feel better really soon.

Hi Lizziedee, thank you for your help and reply. May be the gap between last dose on the Friday 14/5/21 of Seroxate and the new dose yesterday hasn’t helped things. Bit of a pain by my doctor leaving the gap but fingers crossed I will feel better soon. Talk about a couch potatoe!!!!!

It’s really tough and because you have been off the paroxetine a week, that could be some withdrawls and then side effects from the new medication from last night. Hopefully after you start getting used to the new medication it all settles down. That drained feeling is awful, even the simple every day things become too much to think about let alone actually do.

You have been on Paroxatine over an extended period, You have come of them not very long ago. Now you have started on the new drug so there will be a gap to get used to the change, of drug, On day one the side affects are not unusual, although the time should not be as long as you move on so be patient and allow you body to get used to the new one. It will be counter productive to now keep changing because of the side affects all that will happen if you look for a change you may find more counterindications and it will take longer to settle down, Be Patient allow about four weeks or so

A week to come of Paroxatine is not that long

Yes allow time for the changeover to take place, you May have to allow time for the changeover, if they have managed to wean you off the Paroxatine, try and allow a further three to four weeks for the changeover
