Hi I am on sertraline and I do drink around 2/3 times a week but only a couple of pints each time. I have never had any problems or been told specifically not to drink on them. I believe why drinking is not a good idea is that you tend to go to the toilet more often so will flush the med out of your system sooner. That's what a doctor told me anyway.
I do drink when taking Citalopram, I have been on medications for many year
I do like a drink and several times a week I enjoy a Whiskey and a beer. My old Surgery knew this and accepted it and did not tell me to stop.
Generally I drink on a Saturday, Friday and possibly Wednesday. I know how much to drink and also know when to stop. Be careful and fix a moderate, low amount. And be careful.
and stick to that taking into consideration other types of medications you may take, like analgesic drugs etc. BE SENSIBLE.
Alcohol is bad for depression plus it is recommended no alcohol with antidepressant medication.I am on maximum dose of sertraline for 10 years ,I do not drink but have stopped all recreational drugs in my case cannabis.
I stopped smoking cannabis, which I smoked most days and was a greatest joy in my life, also enjoyed fresh coffee with strong caffiene.I stopped both immediately and have not touched in over 13 years.
The maximum effects of sertraline are essential to me. Having psychotic depression there is no contest.
Lucky for me that caffeine and cannabis are not physically addictive so as much as I miss my cannabis there are no withdrawal symptoms.
Alcohol can be physically addictive plus I can understand what a big loss such a good comfort could be.
Hi I've been on sertraline a long time. I have and do drink on it, can't drink a lot and it does m ake me feel rubbish next day.. I tend to get tipsy quicker as well. I drink wine..
We need to know our limits, the same applies to weed. Personally as long as we are careful. It can be important we have some form of relaxation available to help us get on with our life.
I drink, probably bordering alcoholism, and take antidepressant and anti psychotic medication. It probably makes them less effective but other than that it seems to have little effect on me. We can't tell.you whether your decision is okay or not but by offering our personal experiences you can make your own call whether you do or don't. Probably should add that the PILS leaflet and all doctors will tell you that you shouldn't but then they aren't living with the reasons you drink xxx
I wouldn't advise it tbh, I had very bad experiences drinking with it, probably affects people differently but it just made me a bit crazy and more risk taking.
