Hi I feel just like you too and suffer from the guilt if i try to take time for myself. What I try to do is commit to sit and focus on a nice activity even just for 5 minutes. So reading a book or doing some sewing. Not watching telly as you are not focusing your mind enough on something. It is hard at first and takes practice but once you can start to have these little pauses during the day you slowly bring down your stress levels and the rest of the day feels easier. The guilt is a tough one but I guess I try to remember that if I can reduce my anxiety then the rest of the day will be more productive anyway. So 5 mins out will actually help more do more in the long run. I am a work in progress so it all sounds good in theory. All the best and hope this may help.
Being busy is in many way can be a diversion, however work is how you make your Money and do all the positive things that make you who you are. Remember you build on our own character as we proceed through life, to the end of our life learning period.
It is very important you learn how to separate work and life in general.
You are tired when you return home and feel at a loss. I am a pensioner and given that my hobbies and diversions help me to distract from worries etc I may have. Generally I find I never stop when it comes down to my interests or expectations throughout the day. I know life is not as straight forward as that, although you will have activities at home you need to perform and housework can work out to be an extension of your work environment.
At sometimes during the day, free time consider a keyhole in the day for you and only you. I find this me time helps many people have a period of relaxation,
or perform tasks or hobbies they enjoy, this is very important as we need time to calm down before bed and prepare ourselves for tomorrows work
