Hi guys....I'm new on here so just wanted to say hello. I suffer with GAD so worry about everything and I find it very difficult to control my fears. I often worry about things that will probably never happen and find it hard to just "be in the moment" I have been on a range of different medication but at the moment I am on a combination of Sertraline and Pregabalin and I just wanted to know if anyone else has had any experience of this medication?

Hi, welcome to the community. Actually I don't have experience of the medication you are talking about. Just wanted to give you a welcome greeting.
aw thank you
Welcome to this site
I do not take this mix of medications, we are all different when it comes down to medications so what suits one may not suit someone else
Are you having other treatments like talking therapy at this time to help you or is it just the drugs you are interested in.
BOB
Hi Bob, I'm currently trying acupuncture, I meditate and do yoga. I have tried CBT but it didn't really work for me
Missrob
How are you getting on with the acupuncture ??, not forgetting YOGA. Have you tried other relaxation techniques ?
BOB
Bob I've only had 2 sessions of acupuncture so still early days, can you recommend any good relaxation techniques?
There is the one they now recommend Mindfulness Relaxation Technique. You can purchase books on Amazon for about ten pounds.
I use the Alexander Technique, also the Maxwell Technique, mixed together. The latter Maxwell technique takes into consideration the noise and clutter of every day living. Sad to say I have not seen the tapes or books explaining these techniques for a long time however look them up on the Web.
The Alexander Technique was used by Pain Clinics and the Maxwell Technique was used in Physio as well as Mental Health, The Mindfulness is more to do with relaxation and ways of control the negative in our lives. The basic formats are basically similar with the exception of Mindfulness

Hi! Also new here, just started sertraline today, and am also diagnosed with GAD and depression. let's see what happens...
nice to meet you
Hello missrob I have taken sertraline 100mg for the last 4 and a half months fir GADI feel so much better. I've also had counseling 2_weekly and meditation daily. I have used the mindfulness movement Sarah Raymond on you tube. She does sessions on anxiety or self esteem, confidence, letting go of the past and healing. The last thing to fix now us my problems sleeping. I have been referred to a sleep clinic. hang on in there and all the best
Thank you Corndolly. How long did it take for you to start to notice a difference? I was on 100mg but it didnt seem to help so the Dr put me on 150mg but the side effects were horrendous so he put me back down to 100mg plus Pregabalin to help with side effects. I've been on 100mg now for about 10weeks with no real improvement but I've read such good reviews about Sertraline and how you need to give it chance to work that I'm hanging on in there lol. Thank you for your comment it has given me encouragement !
Hi as I remember it was a bit like a lightbulb moment. I kept thinking this is not working and asking the doc if I needed to increase my dose. He said be patient. Then it just sort if kicked in. A good 4 months so hang on in there xx
Be patient with your medication give it time to work
