my partner suffers with depression and anxiety, I am finding it really hard to understand or feel empathy as my needs in our relationship seem to be ignored.
Can anyone point me in the direction of tools to better understand, or where we can get joint help as a couple to learn how to navigate this illness together.
Thank you

Show as much empathy as possible and be supportive . Many believe you can never truly understand depression if you’ve not experienced it yourself . So be understanding and sympathetic and even express how you’re finding it difficult to understand but you are there for them and will do anything you can to help .
I found professional doctor very helpful and going through it you do not sometimes see the light and need support, just to understand to get you to the other side and not the stigma, negativity around mental health
On the other hand, it is not fair for someone to allow their untreated mental illness to negatively impact someone else's wellbeing to the point of a mental illness themselves.
