Mirtazipine
Hi, I was put on Mirtazapine a year ago for depression, last time I saw my GP he said they were not working for me and until I came off them he couldn't prescribe any thing better,he never discussed reducing the dose so I am carrying on with them for now because they help me sleep. When things get less stressful I am going to try myself to come off them gradually.
That actually depends on what antidepressant your doctor is thinking of switching you to.
If it's a SSRI or SNRI, they are sometimes taken together with mirtazapine on a long term basis. Therefore, having a short-ish period of crossing over between them, where you are taking both, is possible.
I've been on Mirtazapine for about two years now and had a 6 months break in between. Coming off it again starting next week.
45mgs sounds a lot to me that comes with all the unwanted side effects. I would wean off gradually, even 3.5mgs does the trick with less side effects. I found 7.5mgs were just right for curbing anxiety and aiding sleep.
hi ive been on 45mg for years tried coming off them and it was terrible ended up back on them.
Hi Ken thanks for replying.i was balanced using 15mgs 1 day then 30 the next.had a bit of a dip I get really bad if I dont sleep cognitive goes all to pot anxiety flares terrible.so doc put me up to 45 do you get any side effects or was you put straight on 45.
hi straight on to 45mg it was hellish tapering off as was supposed to change to sertraline I only had one tablet and had a severe reaction and ended up at hospital.
What you had reaction to sertraline and back on 45 mgs mirt?.i suppose I was trying to taper off as had enough of tablets maybe too much at a time but my brain felt as though there was holes in it really weird.ive got underactive thyroid and type 2 diabetes so they dont help really.its not a quick fix but if they keep you balanced then I'd rather be on them than off.hope your well
I was on those they worked for a while, but then didn't seem to do anything other than make me gain excessive weight. I'm now on zopoclone which I finds really works for me.
About 8months as it is the only medicine that relaxes me for sleep, unfortunately it doesn't keep me asleep all night, but I'm getting enough to be able to manage my days.
Yes terrible the next day without sleep especially when working full time.wish someone would just hit me over the head sometimes lol.
Hi welly10 7.5 the 3.5 did nothing for me, I used to be on phenegen which is another OK tablet.
When ever I need them really, I use lavender sprays as well.
