Holidays are supposed to be magical. But sometimes they’re not.

Sometimes, they suck.

If you’re reading this on Thanksgiving, my guess is that you might be having a holiday that’s less than stellar. Your holiday may be leaning more towards, "I wish this day was just OVER already!" than towards, "Woo hoo! This is the best Thanksgiving EVER!"

If that’s what you’re thinking, here’s what you need to know.

You are NOT alone. I promise you that there are a LOT of people who aren’t doing the happy dance today. While that probably doesn’t make you feel any better, sometimes it helps to know that you’re not the only one who is going through a rough time.

This too shall pass. Nothing lasts forever. Not the good. Not the bad. If today is not going well, remember that next year may be different. Again, that may not change the way you feel rat the moment, but it’s important to remember that life will get better. It may not seem that way right now. But it will.

You can still grab a bit of happiness today. I know that seems impossible. And, I’ll be honest. If you’re having a lousy day, the chances of totally turning it around right now are not great. BUT if you’re willing to truly try, I’ll bet you can be happy for one minute today. And, while one minute isn’t a lot, one minute of happiness is better than no minutes of happiness. Are you up for it?

Here's the experiment:

Your goal for today is to create 60 seconds of happiness in your day. That’s not a lot. But it’s a start. And it’s totally achievable.

Great!!!! I gave it a try too!!!! Enjoy your day 💜

I live in the UK and I found Christmas and New Year a real pain in the B**. What we did was to go abroad over this time on a Coach Tour, we spent Christmas and New Year in some wonderful locations, We spent a great deal of time in the Holy Land, Malta, Cyprus and other places. When we returned every one had fallen out, while we came back refreshed everyone else was in a proper mess.

Now we celebrate with ourselves, and Pax our dog, we still go away in the UK and visit friends before Christmas, We generally arrange all our food for this period for a three or four week period, in fact we have begun to get various things in much earlier. We even purchased Pax a new play toy that scoots across the floor so that is Him sorted.

If we are so phased by this time of year you do not need to follow the crowd look for ways to help yourself and enjoy the season. You live in the States so it is not possible to advise, however Christmas is coming, make that diversion if you can

Merry Christmas/New Year

Keep a hold

I hate Christmas Bob!! I wish I could go away but cant really afford it. I have had a bit of a tough year but feel like I am coming out of a very dark tunnel. It is starting to look a bit brighter but the thought of Christmas is making me ill!!.. Its not Christmas itself, but this year I have found out that I don't have the friends I thought I had. My family, especially my mum and dad were not really supportive at a time when I could have done with it and I hardly hear from them at all but I know I will be "expected" to go to their house on Christmas day and have dinner and drinks and chit chat as if we are all one big happy family when it is actually a really false day and I hate it!! I sit there itching to get home. This year I thought I would try something different although I have not looked into it yet. Working in a soup kitchen or helping out with dishing up Christmas dinner to the homeless or something..?? Something just to get me out of the house and also so that I don't have to go to my parents on Christmas day... I think it would be good to do something for someone else, someone else who deserves it and who knows maybe this way I can begin to break the habit of having to do something every year on what is "supposed" to be one of the happiest days of the year!!

Am I horrible for feeling this way...???

XXX

PS. I can picture Pax playing with his wee toy... :-)

Sounds like a great thing to do. Give to others on a day that typically gives you no joy.
