Mirtazaphine
cant say I have been on 45mg for years not to say others have not experienced it though.
Medications can have a tranche of side affects, we are all different so given that your GP will be able to suggest if the medication is giving you unwanted side affects.
However you need to give this medication time to work, upwards five weeks

It sounds like Anxiety, however you need to put your mind at rest, however remember we always need to give medications time to work.
Make your appointment with your GP, take along a list of your sufferings, this will allow a better use of time in surgery to explain your needs

Some medications can affect how the brain works, regards the production of chemicals that can change your mood, this can be how the drugs work. However if medication is making you unsettled talk to your Doctor and explain how you feel
Make an appointment to see your Doctor, list your problems and they will be able to assist

Hi Eabxj28,
Mirtazipine is an effective and safe antidepressant, but as with all medication, there are potential side effects and contra-indications, which you should discuss with your doctor before commencing treatment. Part of its action is to elevate serotonin levels in the brain - the mood-elevating chemical. But there are special precautions that people need to be aware of when taking these types of drugs if overdosed or taken in combination with certain other medications that may elevate the serotonin levels, this can cause a condition called Serotonin Syndrome. Some of the symptoms of this syndrome are inexplicable fever, sweating, increased heart rate, diarrhoea, (uncontrollable) muscle contractions, shivering, overactive reflexes, restlessness, mood changes and unconsciousness. If you get a combination of these symptoms, talk to your doctor immediately.

Hello mas nurse , I was on pregablin which I’m off now ,which I think that what caused noise in head which I got constant starting to come of mirtazaphine slowly, I think I may have what you said seratonin symptoms just got noise in head hardly nothing in ears ,fast heart rate ,shaking ,does it usually clear after a while once I’m off pills completely or is this a life sentance
Hi, I have been taking Mirtazapine for about 3 months. However, It was administered by a trained Psychiatrist. The reason i was put on this drug was to try and combat effects whilst tappering off Venlafaxine [antidepressant].
I was on 45mg, now on 15mg for 4 more days, then finish. I am also taking Loprazamine.
With every consultation my doctor mentions the importance of balancing the serotonin level. It is so very important. I feel that at times, some GPs are not that observant. The reason, and sadly the only reason I am being (brilliantly) monitored by a Psychiatrist is that I felt suicidal. - All GPs have to act on all patients who are in this condition.
Going back to your intake of of Mirtazapine, you need to speak with yourGP and explain you are worried regarding your Seratonin level. And keep a record of your symptoms.
Hope all goes well.
