Feeling low

Feeling low again and worthless, like I mean nothing to anyone. I’m exhausted and feel drained too, I currently have a part time job so it fits around the kids but my little one (1.5) is up almost every hour so my sleep is rubbish and then I’m up at 5-6am every day - I used to go out with a few friends once a week, been doing it for years but I’m no longer interested in going.

I’ve started drinking a bit more than usual which doesn’t help!

What does everyone else to do get yourself back up and with a bit of energy?

Looking after 2 youngsters and holding down a job with such little sleep is amazing; you are doing brilliantly. Lack of sleep and drinking alcohol can soon bring you down though, so difficult though it is to knock drinking on the head you might want to try to not drink any booze for a week or two to clean your system. Spending a few seconds here and there doing nothing but deep breathing I find helpful and you might want to try it. And definitely try and push yourself to seeing friends; you might not fancy going out but being with friends and a bit of adult conversation helps. Good luck

If you are tired, and not getting sleep you will feel the way you describe.

It is important you can arrange a time out from your family, children. If at all possible consider that one night out is vital to your well being. Friends will give support and understanding, time out is fresh air to those who feel trapped.

Drinking at home on your own is generally not wrong, however drinking to relax and cope can be problematic. As long as you are able to control the amount of drink and it is not effecting you to much. Fair enough. However if drinking is increasing, no-one likes a drunk even the drunk. I am reducing my intake now because of diabetes I now never go over my prescribed limit in fact my drinking is becoming less and less. I have reduced my beer to one half litre and my whisky to a double not a treble. I feel much better reducing my drink

If you feel talking to your GP will help make that appointment, draw up a list, that will keep you on track
