Hi, I’ve been asked by my GP to refer myself to a Talking Therapies Group.
I have referred myself but wanted to know if anyone had experience of this and found it helpful.

Yes I self referred for cbt via talking therapies on line. Depending on your area there is a wait list, I was lucky it was only a six week wait in my area..time goes quick but I would suggest to anyone self refer ASAP, and get in the system...(I see you have self referred already 😊)
My first lot of cbt was completed over the phone, after that I had one to one cbt with a therapist, I had to persevere to get the one on one therapy, in my opinion it was well worth it ..I learnt a lot from my CBT therapist.
Eventually they put me forward for psychology sessions with the nhs for trauma/ptsd...via talking therapies I also was referred for a 12 week course on mindfulness, which was most helpful...being in the talking therapy system taught me a lot and helped me better understand and better manage things...
Hope this helps.
Best wishes xx
Olivia...I attended a group called S.M.A.R.T....it stands for SELF MOTIVATION AND REHABILITATION TREATMENT..it’s a group meeting..I went for almost a year and found it very helpful, but unfortunately the funding stopped and the group could no longer function....
Ah yes funding is a problem for quite a few things, it’s a shame.cbt is helpful via talking therapies on the nhs
I’m glad you found us here 😊
Thanks for the replies. I was doubtful about talking Therapies as I think my problems might be linked to the menopause as I never suffered any problems before. I told my doctor this but I don’t think it was taken on board.
Mostly have mood swings, anger issues and depression.
Depending on what your going for.they are there for you to talk to without judgment.they are not there to tell you what to do and how to run your life.
I know what you mean but the tablets are an aid not a cure and with CBT and talking therapies you develop new coping skills to wean off the tablets.but like you said an open mind is a start.
