Zoloft doses

Hi everyone. I'm considering taking Zoloft again like I did 4 years ago but my Dr/ Psychologist is retired and she was a great guide. She knew how scared I was to take it so she started me on 6mg. I can't remember the time we took to increase the mg or by how much. I seem to remember cutting the Zoloft at first into 4ths, then increased to half and so forth. Until I eventually reached about 50mg I think. Never went beyond that. What is too fast to increase doses? I have a feeling my current GP isn't as sympathetic as my last one. If I call the clinic can they see my previous Drs notes by chance?

Hello Clarita, sorry to see that you are struggling again. May I ask please do you have a new Psychologist to replace the lady who retired? If so this is a question for them to discuss with you as it is unwise to restart medication that you took 4 yrs ago without professional supervision. Also your GP may surprise you and be sympathetic. In answer to your question your medical notes are kept on file so that your GP has full knowledge of your health.

Please stay safe and contact your health professional to discuss this issue with.

Let the members know how you are getting on Clarita and best wishes to you.

Hi and thank you for your response. I have a psychologist/therapist I visit but she works from home and obviously isn't allowed to prescribe anything to me. The retired psychologist was actually a GP working in a clinic with a psychology background so it was a win-win in my eyes because she listened to my problems and was able to prescribe medicine as well. My current GP gave me a sense that she doesn't have a very strong background in psychology, she struggled for suggestions and I felt I was leading the idea of me going on medication again.

When you say my GP has all notes, does it also have information from 4 years ago regarding how many mg of Zoloft I was on and when she increased dosage?

hank you again and I will look after myself and give updates. 🙂take care.
