14 weeks pregnant and I’ve never felt so much anxiety in my life it has crept back and started taking over my life again, I don’t dare go out because I end up having bad anxiety attacks but when I’m home I’m depressed about it all is it just because the pregnancy? Will it get better? Scared and emotional

Have you got a midwife or Health Visitor you could talk to? Depression alongside the joys of pregnancy sounds awful, but you can most definitely feel better with the right support x

Hello Casper007.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and sorry to hear you say that anxiety seems to be taking over your life again. This could be one of the effects of the pregnancy as it is a very big change in your life, physically and emotionally. Be kind to yourself and take small steps. As Suzie40 says talk to your midwife. She will probably recommend that you see your GP.

Is there anything that you have used in the past which has helped such as breathing exercises, mindfulness, meditation or talking therapies?

Please have a look at the link below which has a lot of useful information and which you may find helpful.

Please let us know how you get on with your midwife.

Best Wishes

A lot of people talk about postpartum depression, but there's a whole slew of mood disorders called Perinatal Mood Disorders (PMADs) that can occur either during or after pregnancy. Anxiety is often not talked about but it is part of it. If you have a history of anxiety it can put you at higher risk for PMADs. There's an organization that's entire function is to help moms with PMADs. Their website is postpartum.net Their website has a lot of great information and resources. I hope that helps.
