i have lived with depression for 25 years, anxiety for 20. over the last year both have had an decrease effect on my daily life. now I feel like I'm back to square one, the depression which has been dormant for a while is back full scale, 3 weeks ago my landlord served notice, i cant get a private landlord to take me and the kids on because i receive benefits. applied to the council but they have put me in a generic band! (i am currently trying to resolve this) I just feel useless, I cant even keep a roof over my kids heads, my selfesteam (there wasn't much to start with) is rock bottom, been to dr's and they want me to try medication which from experience makes me violently ill or like a zombie, I have a 2 year old it scares me to death to try it! what do I do?

If you are in the UK could you go to the citizens advice bureau, maybe they can help you with things.
I'm on antidepressants for depression and anxiety and it's the best thing I've ever done - do not worry about going on them! If you are given one that isn't quite right, you just see your doctor and change it to another one until you find one that works. I have no side effects from mine and I do feel like myself again.
Antidepressants can be a life long treatment too, if you've suffered for so long and it is a way to manage the condition long term.
Definitely see your doctor to discuss, and at least even if other tough things are going on, you'll be in a much better frame of mind to tackle them xxx
I would go to salvation army, citizens advice, keep going with the council, I really feel for you right now, anti depressants might numb you a bit while your going through this but won't take it all away. God there must be something, they cannot have you all out in the streets. Try and get your message to as many important people as you can, go to your local mp, you can book appointment. Don't give up. Xxxx
thank you all for your help, I really do appreciate it, just as an update I have been to the citizens advice again today and they have put me in touch with a few agencies that may be able to help. thank you again
