Hi Folks,

Last night some of you may have read my reply to a user requesting financial help to pay off their parent's mortgage. After discussion with my line manager, I have decided this morning to delete the post, to protect other users, as it contravenes our Community Guidelines. It is a learning curve for us all, and worth us refreshing our memories by periodically reading the CG's and T&C's .I have private messaged the user, and below is my reply:

"I appreciate that you want to help your parents out, which is commendable. But I'm afraid you are contravening the Community Guidelines, T&C's that you agreed to when you joined this community. Here are the links to these guidelines to remind you: healthunlocked.com/mental-h... healthunlocked.com/policies... support.healthunlocked.com/...

However well intentioned your request for money on this forum, is wholly unacceptable, and I quote: "Solicitations: Please note that The Shaw Mind Foundation does not endorse or recommend any specific products, services, therapies, or activities mentioned by any third party (individual or company)..."

This is to ensure the community continues to be a safe environment for all users, many of whom are vulnerable, and come to this forum to find a safe place to share their needs and views. Many are in financial difficulties and could feel coerced into giving money. This community is not the place to fundraise or request financial help. Please respect the all members here, as hopefully we have shown you respect and support.

In the light of this, as a Health Unlocked Moderator, this morning after discussion with my line manager, I have decided to delete this post, having limited it and prevented other users from replying last night, and I have reported this to Health Unlocked Admin team for their attention.

If you live in the UK, there are other ways to help your parents financially and having a chat with the Citizens Advice Bureau (citizensadvice.org.uk/) would be a good place to start. If you live outside the UK, find out what local advice agencies are freely available to speak to.

Please continue to post and be an active member of the forum. But be aware if you do continue to request money, then you may be permanently removed from this forum.

Do look after yourself.

Best wishes, MAS Nurse. "
