Mental fog

Lately I have been having issues on focusing what matters most, I feel like my brain is excessively heavy like everything I do when it comes thinking or remembering it's like my mind doesn't want to recall. I feel like this excessive heaviness where I just can't think at all and when people talk to me it's like one of the adults of a Charlie Brown shows. You hear what the person is saying but unable to catch what they are actually saying. So it seems like to the other person you are not really focused on what the person is saying. When you try harder to concentrate it only gets worse. I feel like some days I want to say forget it. Like I don't want to crawl in a hole for 48 hours and not come out.

Has anybody dealt with this problem and how have you coped with situations such as a Brian fog? I feel like I can't even take a day off because being a mom at times gets you where you kid needs you. I feel sluggish and slow today....

Hello ikim, welcome to this supported community. I wonder if other folks on here have experienced brain fog too? There are a number of medical conditions and other causes that also experience brain fog . It is important to determine the reason that you might be experiencing this, for example he could be due to not getting adequate quality sleep, or a physiological reason such as an imbalance in your neurotransmitters if you're being withdrawn from one anti-depressants to another. It will depend on your individual circumstances. Common symptoms are as you describe poor concentration, worked finding difficulties, or short term memory, difficulty thinking clearly. These can be exasperated if you're tired or have got an increase mental workload. As a busy mum you're probably overloaded trying to meet your children's needs along with everything else, so it's not surprising that you're feeling like this. Have you had a chat with your doctor about how you are feeling, they may want to take a blood test, check your current medications etc.

Strategies that can help could be targeted to trying to improve your sleep, delegating or off loading some of your tasks/workload, using memory aides: Post-it notes, voice recorders, phone alarms, pacing and prioritising activities etc. It sounds like you need some time out to rest and slow down a little. Can you ask family or friends to help you?

Hope this helps.
