Well after a year of my Dr asking me to complete referral form for counselling I've finally done it, I've always been too anxious before as after the referral form I have a great fear of speaking on the phone with people I don't know & the first part of the counselling is on the phone 😫
Finally worked the courage to just go for it, after the first initial call it will be face to face I just need to get through the call without hanging up 🙈 wish me luck lol.
Expecting the call in the next couple of days 😊

Firstly well done! If its anything like my phone call (for PTSD/Anxiety and depression) it will be a GAD test which lasted for me about 10 minutes and its simply them asking you on a scale of 1 to 10 what would this be.
Well done to you. It really is a brave thing to step into the world of counseling although you probably have been doing it with the doctor without realizing it.
The first contact is always about meet and greet then history taking. The best tip is to write down a bit of your history in date order, including when you started seeing the doctor, what medications you took (what worked and what didn't), some information about other things you have tried and perhaps what you would like to achieve from the sessions. You must ask about costs, frequency of sessions and when the first face-to-face session happens
You will be talking about stuff that you know (you are your own expert) with a person who has met lots of first timers so it will be all good.
