Have been feeling strange urges as of late.

When ever I cross or walk past a road I sometimes feel an urge to jump in front of a car that is going at speed.

For example today I was walking and a police car was speeding past and I felt a large part of my body wanting to jump in front of it hoping I would die.

Is there anything I can do to stop this?

that was happening to me as well. I was always too ashamed and embarrassed to tell anyone because I was scared they would be scared of me or think I was crazy. It doesn't happen as often anymore.. when it happens I try and pray or listen to my favorite song to calm me down. hope this helps

David that's fine, apologies for not remembering your age,

Have you told your Dr. About these feelings, some people think these kind of thoughts but would never act on them,

Try thinking about all the things you want to achieve with your life, lists of place you would like to visit, music you want to listen. To, and people you would like to date. It's a distraction which might help.

No, I have not told my Doctor.

Thank you for your advice. I shall use it to see how effective it is.

hello david5437

I suggest you try and talk about your intrusive thoughts with your doctor?

It can be very frightening and everyone deserves support? Relaxation techniques to slow your breathing may help you feel less panic? I hope this helps. A thought is a brief moment that will pass? It is not an act? Good wishes to you x

I used to think "I might jump and see how it feels" when waiting for the train in the underground.

So i used to get so scared of these thoughts that I sat on the bench or stay away from the yellow line to make sure I could not jump.

Have no idea why this happens but i understand you. It's scary.

Reading an article online made me feel better, it said some people have these thoughts but it doesn't mean they act on them. Knowing this made me feel less anxious when it happened.
