Hi
Im new to this site, suffering from depression, mostly associated to my job, certain work colleagues, having a bad time, felt I needed to talk to someone.
Hi Rachel, I've had depression for many years and many years ago I was bullied very badly at my first job, so badly I very nearly had a breakdown so I understand a little of what you're going through. There are a lot of very helpful and understanding people on here so you will find a lot of help if you want it, I'm also very happy to chat if you would like.. Well done for taking a big step in admitting you're having problems, but have you spoken to your gp, or the personnel dept at work? And told them the problems you're having too, nothing will change if you can't speak to the bosses as well. This probably sounds nasty (my saying it) but I really don't want anyone to end up as I did. xx
Hi ,
We don't have a personnel department, I wish we did, its just two brothers who run the company and the hateful manager who runs the office who for no reason whatsoever clearly doesnt like me.
Sorry to hear of your bad experience, hope your'e feeling better, its awful. I have a constant pain in my chest like anxiety, I dread coming to work in the morning, and cant wait for 3.30pm to come so I can go home and walk my dog, this makes me feel so much better out in the fresh air,
I went to the GP and broke down in tears, he gave me citalopram, took them for a few months but they haven't really improved things, I just have no one to talk to, dont have many friends anymore, i joined a dog walking group and met some great people but they seem to have their own little click and do their own thing, maybe I should just ask them can I meet them, but I would rather be asked,
just want to say thankyou for replying and sorry for waffeling on, but it feels good to get things off my chest xxx
Hi. I have depression and also struggle in my job. I got the union involved though it didn't help much. I know how much it sucks. PM me anytime. Could you change jobs?
Hi thankyou for reply ,I'm looking into changing as its only going to get worse , she's toxic but oy to me , great with everyone else , we have no Union unfortunately , haven't got a leg to stand on as she's good pals with owners, in not sleeping much waking up with heart pounding
Hi Rachel, it sounds like your depression is situational. I understand that with responsibilities like mortgages and bills, it isn't easy to change jobs. I quit teaching and took a £15k pay cut to do my current job. I am so much happier. If you left your job, how would your life change?
Since starting my new job I've made quite a few friends. I've been out to the cinema with them, I'm meeting up with them tomorrow, and I've been asked out to five Christmas meals.
I think that's a really good idea; finding a dog walking group. If they've all been doing it for a while it is understandable that there is a click, they probably have the pack mentality as much as the dogs do! I find that dog people are generally very friendly. I sometimes end up chatting to people about how gorgeous my dog is ( I'm not modest when it comes to him), and they aren't even dog walkers. Perhaps if your dog bonds with another dog there, you could try and talk to the owner.
Nowadays I go for quality over quantity when it comes to friends. Could you try to improve any friendships that you currently have?
