Headaches & citalopram

Hi all,

I've been taking citalopram 20mg since November 2015 for anxiety and mild depression. I suffer with headaches most days. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what methods do you use to help ease the headaches?

Hi there I'm wondering why you think the antidepressants are the culprit. Headaches can be caused by lots of things and tension and stress don't help. I used to get bad headaches and when I reduced my stress by other means, the headache disappeared.

I think Goldfsh is quite right to suggest that you change to another med.

Hi beefagirl I suffered with headaches also on citalopram, so I went back to my doctor and she changed them. I had worse headaches ( I can't remember the name) then my counsellor suggested sertraline, and I've been 100% better.. Maybe you should consult your doctor! Don't suffer in silence, headaches are debilitating. Hope this is helpful, good luck and wishing you well. 😀

I am now on 10 mg cit but still get headaches but I think mine is if I don't sleep well 2 paracetamol and usually goes off.but if your stressing still this will influence the headaches.
